Your advertising doesn't have to be expensive - just impressive. A few ideas for getting the "word" out.
Community Involvement:
1.Have a "happening" - contests, parties or picnics for your customers
2.Give product or service donations to a charity auction
3.Give free talks to community groups
4.Attend local business groups' meetings and business card exchanges
Giveaways:
1.Give away free samples or advertising specialty items (magnets, mugs, etc.)
2.Offer free evaluations or consultations
Media:
1.Send out newsworthy press releases
2.Write how-to articles for industry publications
Signs:
1.Design a logo and slogan that will become identifiable with your business's name
2.Display your logo on all business cards and promotional materials as well as magnetic vehicle signs, t-shirts, hats, jackets, etc.
3.Design business cards that stand out. Put some thought into the design. Hand them out to everyone you meet and ask relatives and friends to do the same.
Teaching:
1.Give free demonstrations at trade shows and community or store events
2.Conduct workshops at business conferences or expos
Customer Consideration:
1.It costs less to keep a customer than to get a new one and word-of-mouth advertising is one of the best advertising avenues.
2.Send thank-you, birthday and seasonal cards
3.Handle customer complaints quickly and to their satisfaction
4.Be professional and respectful to all customers. Put customers first and your product or service will sell itself.
